Workshop
An intensive hands-on course aimed at veterinarians and students who want to refine their soft tissue surgery skills and gain more confidence in everyday clinical practice.
The workshop combines theoretical preparation with practical exercises on essential and common surgical procedures in small animals. Participants will work under the guidance of experienced surgeons and go through key techniques for preparation, surgical approach, tissue handling and closure of surgical wounds.
Programme
Day 1
- 09:00–10:15 Surgical preparation and basic techniques: patient preparation for surgery, aseptic surgical protocol, skin incisions
- 10:15–10:30 Break
- 10:30–12:00 Abdominal approach and techniques for closing the abdominal wall and skin
- 12:00–13:00 Lunch
- 13:00–16:00 Neutering in dogs and cats: castration of male dogs and cats, ovariohysterectomy in female patients
- 16:00–16:30 Break
- 16:30–17:30 Practical guidance for safe and effective surgery, management of complications and postoperative care
Day 2
- 09:00–10:30 Removal of skin tumours, treatment of aural haematoma
- 10:30–10:45 Break
- 10:45–12:30 Traumatology and reconstructive techniques: management and surgical treatment of skin trauma and wounds, basic reconstructive techniques
- 12:30–13:30 Lunch
- 13:30–15:00 Abdominal surgery: splenectomy, treatment of intestinal necrosis
- 15:00–15:30 Break
- 15:30–17:30 Urinary surgery and emergencies: cystotomy and removal of urinary stones, intraoperative decisions, surgical approach in emergency cases
- 17:30–18:00 Handing out of certificates
